Our History

 

BayTech was started in 2006 by Duncan Evans who continues to run the company.

Initial focus was on medium sized businesses running Domain Server networks. More recently BayTech has expanded to include businesses of all sizes. We provide a friendly prompt and efficient service to our clients who are based primarily in the Bay of Plenty. We are able to provide server and network support including desktop support for users from our offices by utilising our remote access software. This enables us to connect to any server or PC in New Zealand and troubleshoot and interact with a users computer. Of course we also provide on site support when necessary.

Our Network engineers are Microsoft Certified in the areas they cover.

This ensures that our clients can be sure of receiving the best service possible from qualified staff. We have our own engineers who are dedicated to our clients primary support needs but also use specialist contractors where necessary such as for Cisco configuration jobs.

BayTech provides IT support to well known high profile clients throughout the bay including Tauranga, Whakatane, Rotorua, Opotiki and Hamilton.

BayTechs preferred IT support arrangement is via a support contract.

This ensures we our in constant touch with your network and can perform regular maintenance tasks ensuring the best possible reliability. When our clients need support they can contact us knowing that there will be no additional charges for most of the typical day to day issues that arise on business networks. Some clients also prefer an all encompassing support contract which ensures complete piece of mind for a fixed monthly fee.

Duncan Evans
Owner

Duncan previously worked in the UK for large retail organisations as a systems and Administration manager. This role included the development and implementation of automated warehousing distribution materials handling systems for national distribution centres including Duracell, Elda Faberge, Iceland Foods and Dixons Stores Group. Duncan moved to New Zealand in 2004 and initially worked for a national IT service provider in Hamilton. He started BayTech in 2006 and has built the business over the past 8 years to its current level. Duncan is still  enthusiastically involved in every aspect of the business and continues to provide hands on support to clients along with other support staff.

Frank Tempelfeld
Senior Engineer

Frank previously worked in Germany for an international company as IS/IT Manager. He qualified in 2003 as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. In 2006 Frank moved to New Zealand and has worked until recently in the Waikato. For a lifestyle change he moved to the Bay of Plenty and joined BayTech in March 2016. He has been working in the computer/IT industry for almost 20 years. His enthusiasm and determination for excellent service has resulted in good reputation widely spread through his customer base. Having worked with GP’s since 2006 he certified with MedTech software in 2011. He is looking forward to contributing to the firm and to provide outstanding service to customers in the future.

Tom Sharkey
 Engineer

Tom has a background in electronics repair and servicing and qualified as a Microsoft Certified Server Administrator during 2010. Tom joined BayTech in 2010 and is now actively involved in all aspects of the business. Since joining BayTech, Tom has gained extensive experience in server network support for small to medium sized businesses. He has implemented many physical and virtual server installations and is currently working on migrating some of our largest clients to Hyper-V from ESXI virtualisation platforms.

Nathan Willis
Sales Manager

Nathan started in the IT and Business Telephone System / PABX industry in 2003 and has worked in the Corporate and Enterprise space in both NZ and Australia.

Through the years he has developed an extensive knowledge of the major global brands and their system capabilities including in depth knowledge of the NZ Fixed Line, Copper, Fibre and Mobile Networks. What he enjoys most is seeing how technology creates real business benefits, such as saving people valuable time in their work and improving customer satisfaction which in turn helps increase business profits.Seeing technology do this is where his passion for the industry comes from.

Accounts Manager

Cheryl is Accounts Manager and oversees all aspects of administration and the accounting function. She also covers help desk needs as required.
